Radio transmitters of the simulated TBox
When FINISH times with an FDS TBox, SIM emulates the device and its three radio transmitters (start, photocell 1, photocell 2). Like a real TBox, the fake one keeps its own settings: FINISH sets them; in SIM, only what you would do at the side of the track.
The transmitter card
Where: below the settings (only when the FINISH equipment is an FDS TBox)
- The transmitter's serial number.
- Connected.
- Reset device.
For each transmitter: its serial number, whether it is connected, the TBox radio input that carries this number (Radio_A to Radio_F), the channel of that input, the battery (0 to 4), the signal, the counter (number of the last time taken by the input) and the status: “on”, “input disabled”, “input locked” (during the lockout time after a pulse), “no input has this serial number”, “disconnected”.
A pulse (start, photocell 1 or 2) leaves its transmitter, enters through the input that carries its serial number and comes out with that input's channel. FINISH then reads it according to its own start and photocell channels (Timing mode): if they no longer match, FINISH ignores these times, exactly as with the hardware.
The device out of the box
At the first launch (or after Reset device), the fake TBox is a partly equipped device that works without any setup with the channels FINISH offers by default:
| Input | Transmitter | Channel | Active |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radio_A | no. 12417 — start signal | 0 | yes |
| Radio_B | no. 12963 — photocell 1 | 1 | yes |
| Radio_C | no. 13508 — photocell 2 | 2 | yes |
| Radio_D, E, F | none | 0 | no |
| Filaire_1, 2, 3, 5 | — | 1, 2, 3, 5 | no |
The serial numbers are made up. What FINISH writes into the TBox (channel, lockout, active inputs, serial number of an input) is kept in the SIM settings and read back at launch, just as the device keeps its memory; the counters start again from zero, as at power-up.
Serial #
Where: Serial # column; from 1 to 65535
“Made-up serial number (1 to 65535). Changing it amounts to installing another transmitter: FINISH must assign it to a radio input.” The TBox immediately reports the new transmitter to FINISH, but it gives nothing as long as no input carries its number. An unreadable entry puts the number back.
Connected
Where: Connected column
“Unchecked: the transmitter is switched off. The TBox no longer reports it to FINISH and it sends nothing.” To watch FINISH lose a photocell.
Reset device
Where: top right of the card
“Restores the simulated TBox to factory state: default inputs, channels and radio transmitters.” What FINISH had written to it is lost, as on a device that has been reset.
