ChronoFEED SIM Help

Context help (F1)

Every area, button and setting in SIM carries a help key, and every key has its section in this help: the F1 key opens the help exactly where you need it.

The principle

  1. One key per element. SIM has no built-in search: its elements carry a help key directly (manuel.tours for “Start the laps”, etat.guide for the connection guide).
  2. One section per key. In the reference by screen, the section describing an element has its key as its identifier.
  3. One table. The file aide/commun/f1/sim.json maps each key to its page and section: "manuel.tours": "reference/mode-manuel.html#manuel.tours".
  4. F1. SIM starts from the targeted element and goes up to the window, noting each key it meets; the first key known to f1.json gives the page and the section. An element without a key of its own (a text in the race list, for example) leads to the section of its card; no key at all: the SIM help home page.

Try it with a link: reference/mode-manuel.html#manuel.tours.

Where the help is, and without F1

SIM opens the help installed with it (aide folder next to the program), in the language of the software (in French for a page whose translation is still to come); with no help installed, the online help, on the chronofeed.ca site. To find a section without F1, type the label in the search of this help (Ctrl+K, at the top of every page): “com0com”, “automatic start”, “weak transponder”; or use the table below.

All the keys
