ChronoFEED MAPPING Help

The trackside station. The volunteer handing out transponders sees, on the hook board, which transponder is out, for which athlete and which race, and corrects the assignment in FINISH when an athlete leaves with another transponder. MAPPING is free; it connects to FINISH with its licence.

How it works

Transponders hang on a hook board: each hook holds a specific transponder, or an athlete's pair (one on each foot). MAPPING reproduces this board on screen and keeps it up to date from the assignment that FINISH broadcasts:

  • a transponder assigned to an athlete in a running or upcoming race is out: its cell becomes a ghost with the athlete's name and the race;
  • when the transponder comes back, a double tap puts it back on the board;
  • if an athlete leaves with another transponder, the volunteer changes it in the Races tab: FINISH applies it and notifies the timekeeper;
  • when FINISH is in training mode, the Athletes on the track tab lets an athlete join the training from the trackside, with the transponders of a hook, and return them afterwards.

By default, MAPPING is in distribution mode: the volunteer only sees what is needed to hand out transponders. The board editor and the settings are in admin mode, opened with the password provided by your federation or club.

MAPPING only reads until the timekeeper has given it write access. FINISH's state always prevails.

Free, with a licence

MAPPING costs nothing, but each station needs its licence (a MAP-… token, ordered at $0 on the pricing page of the website, or provided by your federation). Without a valid licence (the trial is not enough), MAPPING does not connect to FINISH. See The licence.

The example data

The examples are those of the FINISH help, made up: the Hollywood Cup at the Starford oval, the athletes of SPEEDSKATING FAMOUS (SKF) and HOLLYWOOD SPEEDSKATING (HSK). The “Anneau A” board (5 rows, 8 columns) and the station names (“Poste 2”) are examples.
