Main window
SIM has just one window: the status of the link with FINISH at the top, the simulator settings, then the FINISH races (Race mode) or the manual passings (Manual mode), and the log at the bottom. Nothing there describes a device or a race: everything comes from FINISH.
Overview
- The product name and what it does. The title bar gives the program's version and commit: you know exactly what you are testing.
- The Link menu: search for FINISH again, enter its address, exit.
- The ? menu: help, licence, about, report a problem, language.
- The link and simulated equipment: three lights, what remains to be set in FINISH, the device photo.
- The settings: the mode, then in Race mode the starts and the realistic race.
- The FINISH races (Race mode); in Manual mode, the manual passings take their place.
- The log.
- The status bar: the last message.
Other cards only appear when needed: at the top, choosing the FINISH when several are announcing themselves; below the settings, the radio transmitters of the simulated TBox when FINISH uses an FDS TBox.
The header
Several ChronoFEED-FINISH on the network: which one to simulate?
Where: top of the window, card with an orange border (only when several FINISH are announcing themselves and none is remembered)
One button per FINISH, under the name displayed by clients set in its Broadcast module. Click the one whose races you want to simulate: SIM remembers it (by its name) and will link to it on its own at the following launches. To change it: Search for FINISH again.
Log
Where: bottom of the window
What SIM does, most recent at the top (500 lines at most): FINISH found, simulated equipment started (and on which port), FINISH races arrived and removed, starts given, the plan of each race (“8 passings planned including 1 intended error(s)”), athletes not simulated and why, race ends. Each intended error is written there at the moment it happens, preceded by ⚠: you read in SIM what has been falsified, and in FINISH what was done about it.
Every passing
Where: Log; unchecked by default
Also writes each passing sent to FINISH: “Passing #37: 9853806 @ 14:03:30.892 (STA)”. Useful for comparing with the FINISH equipment log (Log), verbose during a race.
Clear
Where: Log
Clears the log in the window. Nothing else is touched.
The status bar
Where: bottom of the window
The last log message. On the right, in orange, the licence warning when it is close to expiring.
