Main window
A banner at the top, tabs, a large message at the bottom: everything is readable from a distance and works with a finger.
- The link: green dot, the name and address of the linked FINISH.
- Write access, accepted by the timekeeper in FINISH.
- “Request access”: greyed out, since access is already accepted. Next to it, “Admin mode”.
- The large message: what FINISH applied.
- The tabs of distribution mode.
The connection banner
A green dot: “Connected to FINISH “Anneau A” (192.168.1.10:8210)”. A red dot: “FINISH unreachable: retrying…”; MAPPING reconnects by itself every 2 seconds. If several FINISH announce themselves on the network, the banner lets you choose yours.
Write access
MAPPING reads without asking. To change a transponder, it needs access:
- Request access: FINISH shows the request with the station name; the timekeeper accepts or refuses. Without an answer within 5 minutes, the request expires and nothing changes.
- Accepted: “Write access accepted”. After a network outage, the request is made again by itself and FINISH recognises the station.
- The timekeeper can withdraw access at any time: the station goes back to read-only. FINISH restarted: request again.
The tabs
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Distribution | The hook board, kept up to date: what is out, what has come back. |
| Races | FINISH's races and their athletes: change a transponder. |
| Athletes on the track | FINISH in training mode: instead of the races and the distribution. |
| Boards | Draw and fill the boards (admin mode). |
| Settings | The station, automatic return, admin mode (admin mode). |
The licence banner
Without a valid licence, an orange banner says so (“Trial: 12 day(s) left — connecting to FINISH requires a licence (free)”) with the Activate… button. MAPPING opens and the editor remains usable, but it does not connect to FINISH. See The licence.
- The orange banner: “Licence required to connect to FINISH (free)”.
- “Activate…” opens the licence window (also from the Help › Licence… menu).
- Without a licence, nothing goes out on the network.
The large message
After each change sent, MAPPING says plainly what happened: green, “FINISH applied: Jeanne T. — transponder 112 → 87 · P03” or “Waiting for the timekeeper”; red, “FINISH refused: …” with the reason, or “FINISH did not answer”. In every case, the list is rebuilt from the assignment that FINISH publishes again.
Language and help
The Langue / Language menu offers the eleven languages of the suite. F1 opens this help at the right section (Context help).
