Live
During practice: one row per athlete, in their FINISH colours, with their latest laps and what happened around them. Nothing clears by itself; you clear the display when you want a fresh start.
- LIVE: the sessions in progress and how many athletes are present. An athlete is present when a session in progress includes them and they crossed the line less than 10 minutes ago.
- The screen settings, kept on the tablet: the number of latest laps per row (3 to 15), the order of the rows (most recent crossing at the top, name, best lap), Hide absent athletes, and Lapping tile (show or hide the tile). Clear the whole display clears every row at once; Show everything again brings the cleared laps back (those of the last 12 hours).
- One row per athlete: on the left, their initials and name on the background and text colour of their athlete record in FINISH (no colour in FINISH: the app's colours; no text colour: white or black, whichever reads best), and ★ their best lap of the session. Then their latest laps, oldest to newest: the last one has a vermilion frame, the best lap of the session is cyan with ★, a suspicious lap is grey with “?”. A greyed row: the athlete is absent.
- The small bin at the end of the row clears that row's display: the next laps will appear from there. Nothing is deleted: the session keeps all its laps (athlete record, load, PDF report), and Show everything again brings them back.
- The Lapping tile (see below).
The marks under each time
- 2/5
- place in the group / group size at the crossing that ends the lap; “alone”: nobody within the group gap (1.0 s by default).
- ▲
- leading a group of at least two skaters.
- +1, −1
- passes made / conceded during the lap (skaters at the same pace).
- ⟳
- a lapped skater (very different pace), either way.
- ?
- suspicious lap (missed crossing, lap too short): left out of calculations, never the “best lap”.
The details of each lap (gaps, intermediate loops) are in the Session screen.
The Lapping tile
The tile emulates FINISH's lapping among your athletes only (other skaters are never shown). Show or hide it with Lapping tile; on the right of the screen on a tablet, above the rows on a phone.
The retained lap, large, in the athlete's colours: as in FINISH, a lap is retained if it ends at least 4 s after the previous retained lap; otherwise it is skipped. A suspicious lap is never retained. Below: the latest retained laps (up to 10), the most recent on the left.
Laps covered: since the tile was reset, or since an athlete who arrived later went on the track. A missed crossing counts for the laps it hides (a lap of about twice the usual time counts 2).
Laps ahead: “ME +2 on JE”: Maude has covered two laps more than Jérémie since both have been skating. An athlete who joins during the session starts from their arrival: they are not “behind” by the laps done before them.
Reset sets the counters and the list back to zero from the last crossing received. Nothing is deleted from the sessions; the tile never clears by itself.
Live delay
FINISH sends a lap to the tablet as soon as it has written it to its database, about half a second after the crossing; the lap therefore shows on screen in about one second (arena Wi-Fi). With an older FINISH, allow up to three seconds.
Trying it without FINISH
With the Demo data (Settings), the Simulate a practice (demo) button makes the three fictitious athletes skate for 20 minutes: a lap every 10 to 11 s, the third one joining a minute after the others.
