Scenarios
Complete cases, step by step, with the example data of the fictitious federation SPEEDSKATING FAMOUS (SKF) and its regional federation HOLLYWOOD SPEEDSKATING (HSK): prepare a competition, form the heats, exchange with FINISH, publish the standings to TABLEAU.
Two competitions from start to finish
- Coupe Hollywood longue piste
Time mode. Federation template, 80 athletes, 500 / 1000 / 1500 m, pairs and quartets, adjustments with the mouse, schedule, sending to FINISH, overall standings tiles, manual time, making results official, combined standings, broadcast.
- Omnium Hollywood courte piste
Position mode. Round plan based on the number of entries, linear then serpentine distribution, X+Y criterion, penalty and advanced athlete, semifinals, finals A and B, points and omnium standings.
Preparing the rules: the template
- Template in Time mode (long track)
Each tab and each setting of the template editor, step by step, with its effect on the event: races created, groups, pairs, quartets, mass start, pursuit, performance, points, standings, what FINISH receives; then testing the template.
- Template in Position mode (short track)
Each tab and each setting of the template editor, step by step, with its effect on the event: progression table, X + Y criteria, linear or serpentine distribution, advanced athletes, finals for all, codes, points, total; a 500 m from start to finish, then testing the template.
The example files
| File | Contents | Scenario |
|---|---|---|
| athletes.csv (also .xlsx, .json) | 80 fictitious athletes: reference, name, birth date, gender, club, SKF member number, language, transponders, times. | Long track, step 3 |
| inscriptions-coupe-hollywood.csv | The entries for the Cup, one column per race (races are by gender): “Inscrit 500 m Femmes”, “Inscrit 500 m Hommes”… and an entry time per race. | Long track, step 4 |
| inscriptions-omnium-hollywood.csv | 20 women and 22 men, one time column per race and per gender (“Temps d'inscription 500 m Femmes”…). | Short track, step 2 |
| inscriptions-formulaire.csv | A fictitious registration form: the chosen races written as a list (“500m, 1500m, Poursuites”), one column per day, not always the same one; an empty row. | Races in any order |
The entry files are written by tools/aide/generer_inscriptions.py from athletes.json.
All names, clubs and federations are fictitious.
How to
Take the race off the scoreboards while you check, correct, and make it official again.
Enter an athlete after the heats have been generated and place them without redoing everything.
Build a long-track event file by file: creation, additions, reloads, with the schedule and overall standings following.
An online form where the races are written as a list, not always in the same column: extract them at import.
Three computers on the same database: photo finish, transponders and race office.
Start from the shared template, adapt it, keep it for the next events.
Entries, schedule, standings, files for FINISH: where each output is.
