Main window
The window that stays open throughout the competition. At the top, the header chooses the module (Event, History, Broadcast), searches for a command and opens the menus; in the middle, the selected module; at the bottom, the status bar says what just happened and what EVENT is working on.

- The three modules: Event, History, Broadcast.
- Search for a command, a tab or a field (Ctrl+K).
- The File menu.
- Settings: the window with all the options.
- The Help menu (licence, language, about…).
- The selected module: here, the workspace of the open event.
- The message: what the module has just said.
- The status bar buttons: current event, .LIF folders, database.
The header
The dark band at the top, the same as in FINISH: the brand, the modules on the left, search in the middle, the menus on the right.
Event
Where: header, first module
The working module: the workspace of the open event, with its banner (exchange with FINISH, template, change event) and its modules: Races, Entries, Performances (Time mode), Line-up, Schedule, Results (Position mode), Standings; on the left, the event log. With no event open, the module shows “No event open.” and a Choose an event… button.
It is the module selected at launch. The module shown is kept on the computer and comes back at the next launch.
History
Where: header, second module
What the database contains, across all competitions and read-only: the imported heats, their laps and the overall standings. You can look at another competition there without closing the open event. See History.
Broadcast
Where: header, third module
Sending the standings of the open event's races to the TABLEAU scoreboards: network transports, broadcast races, connected scoreboards. See Broadcast.
Search for a setting, a command…
Where: header, in the middle
Type a few letters: the list offers up to ten functions, tabs, fields or menu commands, with their path (“Event › Line-up › Line-up”). Choose with ↑ ↓ then Enter: EVENT opens the module, tab, panel or menu, scrolls to the item and highlights it in yellow for a few seconds. Nothing is run: the item is only shown.
- Ctrl+K (or Ctrl+F) puts the cursor in the field; Esc clears, then gives control back.
- Capitals, accents and punctuation do not matter; a typo is tolerated (two for a long word).
- Synonyms work: “draw” finds Generate races, “bib” finds the bibs.
- Only what the mode of the open event uses is offered: the seed (Time mode) does not appear for an event in Position mode, and vice versa. With no event open, a workspace item leads to the menu.
- A hidden item (for example a command that exists only when a heat is selected) is reported in the message bar.
The File menu
The Help menu
At the top of the menu: (F1: the home page of this help; F1 on an item of the screen opens its section, see Context help) and (the home page of the help for all products). They open in the browser.
The status bar
On the left, the message: the last thing the module shown has said (an import finished, an error, where search is taking you); a small animated bar runs in front of it during an import or a write of the overall standings. On the right, the Log button (shows or hides the log panel), then three buttons that open the Settings window on the right tab.
Current event
Where: status bar, on the right
“Event: Coupe Hollywood longue piste”: the competition under which .LIF files are imported into the overall standings. In the Event module, it is the open event; elsewhere, the name set in Settings, otherwise “Event: the one in the files” (each .LIF file states its competition). A click opens Settings › Current event.
.LIF folders
Where: status bar, on the right
How many .LIF file folders are set (one per technology) and whether they are watched: “.LIF folders: none”, “.LIF folders: 3 watched” or “.LIF folders: 3, not watched”. A click opens Settings › .LIF folders.
Database
Where: status bar, far right
This session's database: “Local database”, “Database: PostgreSQL on this computer” or “Database: server name”; “… — does not answer” if it cannot be reached (nothing is saved then). A click opens Settings › Database.
