Scenario and moments
In automatic mode, TABLEAU moves through the views on its own based on the state of the races in FINISH: the introduction of the athletes of a loaded race, the race, the results, then the pause, the overall standings from EVENT and the advertising when the track is idle.
The six moments
| Moment | When (automatic mode) | View shown |
|---|---|---|
| Presentation | A race is loaded in FINISH, not started yet, and seen for less than the presentation duration | “Athlete introductions” |
| Race | A race is in progress, or finished for less than the hold after the end; or a loaded race is waiting for its start | “Race” |
| Results | A race is finished, for the duration of the results | “Results” |
| Pause | No race left in the FINISH tabs | “Pause” |
| Overall standings | Track idle for “Overall standings after”, and EVENT broadcasts at least one race the view keeps | “Overall standings (EVENT)” |
| Advertising | Track idle for “Advertising after” (or after one round of the overall standings) | the advertising list |
The views and the durations are chosen in the control panel. The moment displayed and its reason (written in French by the software: “course en cours” – race in progress, “course chargée” – race loaded, “présentation”, “résultats”, “pause”, “classement général”, “inactivité” – idle, “manuel” – manual) appear at the top of the panel's SCENARIO section.
How the moment is chosen
On every frame of the screen (not only when FINISH sends something: an introduction ends on time), five rules in order; the first one that applies wins:
- a race started and not finished, or finished for less than the hold after the end: Race;
- a finished race, for the results duration: Results of that race;
- a loaded race not yet introduced, for the presentation duration: Presentation;
- a loaded race waiting for its start: Race (the start list);
- otherwise: Pause; after the set idle time, Overall standings (if there are any), then Advertising.
A race in progress takes priority over everything: while racing, neither the results of the previous race nor the introduction of the next one. A race the scoreboard discovers already started is not introduced.
Each view's race states shown are added to this choice: a “Results” view that only ticks “Finished” never shows a race still on the track, even in manual mode (Filters and sorting).
Several races at once
- Presentation: all loaded races are introduced together, race by race (the two pairs of a group, the groups of a “Grouped” load); each athlete loaded in FINISH has a card. A race loaded a little later joins the introduction.
- Results: the race, and the finished races that ran at the same time. A view sorted by position makes them into a single ranking, by final time; each athlete keeps their race (“Position” stays their place in their race, “Pairing” says where they come from).
- Team pursuit with one race per team: the races of the teams of the same pursuit are always shown together.
- Banner: it refers to the first race in progress in the view (otherwise the first one), in the FINISH race order.
The idle track: overall standings and advertising
Idle time is counted from the last change received from FINISH. When nothing is on the track any more:
- after “Overall standings after” seconds (2 minutes by default; 0: never), if EVENT broadcasts at least one race the view keeps: the overall standings, page by page, race after race (see the overall standings view);
- they last at least “Overall standings at least” seconds and always one full round of the races; then, with “Then the advertising” ticked and at least one active ad, the advertising; otherwise the standings keep cycling;
- advertising also comes after “Advertising after” minutes of idle time;
- as soon as a race resumes in FINISH (loaded, started), the usual behaviour returns on the very next frame.
Without EVENT standings: the pause, then the advertising. “Advertising after” at 0: never any automatic advertising.
Manual mode
A panel button (Presentation, Race, Results, Pause, Advertising, Overall standings) forces the moment until the Automatic button. In manual mode, the race featured is the one that started most recently; a forced introduction shows all loaded races. Each button asks FINISH and EVENT again for the complete state and redraws the view from scratch.
A moment with no view chosen takes the Race moment's view, then the delivered view “Classement (par défaut)”.
