Annotations

DNF, DNS, DQ, penalty or a simple note: whatever is special about an athlete in a race. An annotation immediately redoes the ranking of its race, on screen, in the database and in the .LIF file.

Two annotations from the Coupe Hollywood: a disqualification by the referee, a DNF set by “Finished”.
  1. Add, edit, delete.
  2. The annotations: origin Operator or Automatic; “not in the database” if the write is pending.

Where: Timing, Annotations tab

  • Add…: a race (loaded, in progress, finished, or raced since FINISH was launched), one of its athletes, a type, an optional text (50 characters at most).
  • Edit…: the type and the text. Delete: after confirmation.
The race is…What the annotation changes
on screen (loaded, in progress, finished)The athlete's row shows the code (red dot); timing continues. A DNF, DNS or DQ puts the athlete “out of the race”: they no longer prevent the race from finishing. Do not deactivate them (a deactivated athlete disappears from the standings).
raced since launchThis is the only correction allowed to the standings of a raced race: final time removed if the type requires it, athlete placed after the others, positions renumbered; the database is rewritten and the .LIF file regenerated.
from a previous sessionThe annotation can be read and deleted, but the saved standings are not redone from here; it will apply if the race is reloaded.

Finished and All finished automatically give DNF to athletes without any lap: these DNFs appear here, marked “Automatic”. Removing an operator annotation gives the athlete back what they had. An athlete has only one annotation of each type per race; “Reset” on a raced race also deletes its annotations.

The second sub-tab: short code (8 characters at most), label, effect on the standings, order, origin.

Between two athletes placed after the others, the smaller Order goes first. “Shared” types come from the shared data and cannot be edited here: Copy… turns one into a type of this computer, to adapt. A type still in use cannot be deleted. Empty table at launch: FINISH creates DNF, DNS and DQ.
