Step 0 Install FINISH and activate the licence

Install FINISH on the timekeeper's computer, open it once and give it its licence. Ten minutes.

The goal

A FINISH that opens, with its local database ready and a valid licence (or the 30-day trial running).

Before you start

  • A Windows 10 or 11 computer (64-bit), with an account allowed to install software (administrator).
  • The ChronoFEED-FINISH installer, downloaded from chronofeed.ca (the FINISH “Download” button).
  • Internet, only to request the licence (or activate a token); timing itself does not need it.

What to do, one action at a time

  1. Run the installer

    Double-click the downloaded file and accept the Windows prompts. The installer puts FINISH and its local database in place (a PostgreSQL reserved for ChronoFEED, password created and kept encrypted) and opens the Windows firewall for FINISH. Nothing to type.

  2. Open FINISH

    Double-click the icon. The Session configuration window opens first: for now, click Confirm (step 4 sets it up for training).

    The main window: at the top the modules Timing, Broadcast, Configuration, History; the title bar shows the version.

  3. Open the licence window

    The Help button (top right) › HelpLicence…. The window shows this computer's licence status (trial, activated, expiry) and the Code for this workstation.

  4. Request the licence

    Request a licence…: fill in the form (the licence will be sent to your e-mail) then send the prepared e-mail. Without an e-mail program, Copy code and write to Technofeed with this code.

    You receive a .lic file by e-mail.

  5. Install the licence

    Drag the .lic file into the window (or Open a .lic file…, or paste its content), then Install. With a token subscription: paste the token in the Subscription by token section, then Activate (Internet required).

    “Licence installed. Thank you!”; the status becomes “activated” with its expiry date.

  6. Shared data

    HelpUpdate shared data…: countries, sports, venues, tracks, clubs. Anything added locally is not touched.

    Your venue and track are offered in the session configuration.

What success looks like

  • FINISH opens without an error message; the status bar shows the database in use.
  • Help › Licence… says “activated” (or “trial”, with the days remaining).

Common problems and solutions
